The Department of Clinical Studies at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Small Animal Primary Health Care Practice and Experiential Learning.
Applicants must have a DVM (or equivalent) and be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice in the Province of Ontario. The applicant must possess demonstrated experience in small animal dentistry, spaying and neutering, and other aspects of primary care small animal clinical practice. Advanced training or qualifications in small animal dentistry or veterinary practice are an asset. A graduate Master’s degree or higher and experience with graduate student supervision are desirable. Experience in teaching and scholarly research will be considered favorably. The ideal candidate should have strong skills in primary health care, including dentistry, outstanding teaching, mentoring and communication skills. The successful candidate will spend approximately half of their time practicing in the OVC Smith Lane Animal Hospital, a fully operational primary healthcare companion animal veterinary practice, working with final-year DVM students by teaching entry-level skills with clinical cases on primary healthcare rotations. The OVC Smith Lane Animal Hospital is also equipped to provide rehabilitation services. You will work with three other experienced primary care veterinarians and an excellent technician and customer service team.

The University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine’s Office of Educational Research and Development (OER&D) seeks a new team member to lead faculty development and mentoring in collaborative educational research and scholarship. This is an exciting opportunity to investigate and iteratively improve upon the College of Veterinary Medicine’s cutting-edge, evidence-based, integrated, competency-based curriculum featuring engaged learning strategies such as team-based learning, peer instruction, case-based learning, and hands-on learning. The successful applicant will join our collaborative team of faculty and staff dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in education at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Population Medicine Department. The University of Minnesota food animal program utilizes a non-service based student centered targeted teaching model utilizing partner farms for students to gain experience in both individual animal and population medicine concepts. Duties of the position will be heavily focused on food animal education in a competency based medical education environment, primarily beef and dairy and may support other production species such as small
ruminants and swine. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the teaching of production animal medicine, including general individual production animal care (e.g., theriogenology, physical exam, case management, common procedures/management, field necropsy), general production animal medicine (e.g., production systems experience, advanced theriogenology, diagnostic planning and interpretation, record analysis, safe animal handling and restraint), and production animal field surgery. The position will also require career mentoring of mixed and food animal students. Additional duties may include participation in collaborative research and/or outreach. The actual time commitment to each of these duties is negotiable.
